Strategic Planning
CLIENT:
A mid-western health system formed by the unique combination of a large, Catholic medical center and a not-for-profit, multi-specialty physician practice.
PROJECT:
Back-up assessment.
RESULTS:
A WAKE TSI principal led a team of 8 people and 4 vendors. By centralizing licensing, the health system saved $30,000 in licensing costs and $30,000 in maintenance costs. In addition, 2 IT staff members were freed up and were able to take on new responsibilities.
CLIENT:
New Jersey’s largest integrated healthcare delivery system.
PROJECT:
WAN-LAN technology design and implementation. WAKE TSI principals were called in by the lead consulting firm when the WAN planning began to go awry.
RESULTS:
The purpose of the WAN was to join all the major hospitals with a redundant ATM network; from there, they fanned out and connected 50 smaller sites to the WAN. WAKE TSI then took over the full design and implementation of the LAN project. In building the LAN, a minimum of 24 closets per hospital (18 hospitals total) was replaced and all equipment was rewired. The 12-month, $12m project was a success for the client as well as the consulting firm.
CLIENT:
Renowned pediatric treatment and research facility internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer.
PROJECT:
Disaster Recovery Plan. After the research hospital suffered a severe data center outage, WAKE TSI principals performed an event response evaluation.
RESULTS:
WAKE TSI principals provided the client with a strategic overview of procedures, data center support systems, and SAN redundancy in their assessment. They assisted with the fail-over process to redundant data centers, and both redesigned and enhanced the existing Disaster Recovery Plan’s functionality. WAKE TSI ’s work significantly reduced the potential for disaster in the event of a future crisis.
CLIENT:
Largest Blues health insurer in the Northwest/Intermountain Region with 3 million members.
PROJECT:
Data Center Remediation Plan. When a West coast based consulting firm called in WAKE TSI , downtime costs across the insurer’s 4 data centers located in 3 states was well over $1 million.
RESULTS:
WAKE TSI identified and prioritized strategic options to remediate data center downtime, and developed supporting information, studies, and ROI analysis for each option. The insurer selected WAKE TSI ’s recommended option, and reduced downtime costs dramatically.
CLIENT:
A global transportation and logistics company operating in 120 countries with 20 offices across the US.
PROJECT:
IT Assessment and Remediation: SAN Post-Mortem, Redesign, and Drive Replacement. When the client suffered a severe SAN outage, WAKE TSI was called in to determine what went wrong in a post-mortem assessment. Following the SAN assessment, WAKE TSI was asked to develop a SAN Redesign to ensure that the original design flaws were corrected, and to develop a SAN Drive Replacement plan.
RESULTS:
WAKE TSI’s Enterprise Architecture practice conducted a meticulous post-mortem assessment that was instrumental in the favorable settlement of an insurance claim for the client. Following the assessment, WAKE TSI developed a SAN Redesign that included a drive replacement plan. WAKE TSI’s capacity solution saved the client hundreds of thousands of dollars, and included documented procedures the client can follow in the future to upgrade the drives.
